Campfire cooking, knot tying, nature hike, and backpacking are just a handful of the valuable lessons open to everyone that will be demonstrated by the Scouts in Troop 160. Demonstrations include: · Leave no trace: includes a small trail hike explaining these principles along the way · Wilderness survival: includes shelter building, what to do when you are lost and the basic things you should have and what they are used for · First aid demonstrations · Orienteering: map and compass and a short orienteering course, how to find direction without a compass · Pioneering: lashings, knots, gadget building · Fire building and outdoor cooking: display of different types of fires, cooking over a fire, Dutch oven cooking · Backpacking: display and what to pack for a day and an overnight trip COME BACK AT 7PM for campfire activities open to all! Scouting is more than just fun and games. It's a family centered program that builds character and good citizenship. Let me see –Scouting offers camping, rock climbing, backpacking, hiking, canoeing, summer camp. Trips to Gettysburg, Rhode Island , Washington DC , New Mexico…” Gary Katz, BSA Troop160 Scoutmaster “Troop 160 has been working closely with the AAJRB for some time now. In fact, many improvements at the park were completed as Eagle Scout projects. This event is a great way for members of the community to get a closer look at Scouting, at a great park that is right in their own back yard.” George Buckbee, BSA Troop 160 Executive Director
