Why was Centennial Family Fun Day in The Park begun? The Clarks Summit Centennial Committee joined with the 2nd Annual Forever Young Kids Fishing Derby to add another free family event celebrating their town’s 100th. This began the Centennial Family Fun Day planned for June 11th, 1 PM til dusk at Abington Area Community Park. Dennis Martin Vice-Chair of the Clarks Summit's Centennial Planning Committee commented that “the event will celebrate our town’s heritage and is designed for the entire community to enjoy together.” Event Chairman, Clyde Rosencrance, commented, "There’s a lot that the Abington Area Community Park has to offer. This event was put together with the idea of showcasing just what that is, and at no cost to the community. Since we started the planning, many others in the community have offered to help out and offer activities/events.” What can a visitor to this event expect? "We hope the park and its lake become the stage for our residents to connect with family and friends while relaxing outdoors. At the same time we designed a day where all can have a chance to eat good food, go fishing, play games, share in demonstrations, shows, music, a petting zoo and so much more!" said Linda Young, event Vice-Chairwoman.
