All garden plots have been rented for the 2009 growing season and that a Waiting List has been established. This was announced by AAJRB Vice-Chair Barbara Grabfelder at the Annual General Membership Meeting of the Abington Community Garden held March 30, 2009 at the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church.   

GARDEN WORK DAYS ANNOUNCED for  Saturday, May 2, 9 AM - 12:00 Noon, and Tuesday, June 23, 7:00-9:00 PM 

Anyone still interested in obtaining a plot should contact Barbara either by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , or by phone at 586-8841 to be placed on the waiting list.  We may be able to use names from the waiting list when an existing gardener is looking for help, or occassionally when a health issue arises making it impossible for the original plot owner to garden this season.

     Saturday, May 2, 9 AM - 12:00 Noon -  (RAINDATE: Sun., May 3 from 2-5 PM) - We need your help!  We'll repair the bulletin board, turn the compost, install the four new water hydrants on the left side of the garden, stain benches, weed/mulch main pathways, and do a general clean-up of debris/newspaper.

     Tuesday, June 23, 7:00-9:00 PM - (RAINDATE: Wed., June 24 from 7-9 PM) - This will be our second general work day.  Remember, you don't have to make all of the work days, but you DO need to make most of them.  Many hands make light work. 

     NEW GARDEN LEADERSHIP ROLES - To ensure that the garden runs efficiently, new leadership positions were created.  The following individuals will be responsible for communicating with gardeners in their quadrants for the 2009 season.  If you need information or have a problem, contact the person in charge of your garden quadrant.
